Are you running out of disk space, but unsure what files are taking up all the room? Download JDiskReport, a Java program that gives you a pie chart-style representation of the files on your hard drive. Not only can you see which files and folders are largest, you can see a “Top 50″ view of largest files, get a distribution of of file types, and more useful data. This program is available for Windows and Mac, but also as a web-based application.
Note: For a while I’ve been using Disk Inventory X for the Mac for this purpose, but I like the additional statistical information you get right up front with JDiskReport.

This gripping article recounts the efforts of a highly specialized salvage crew to rescue a capsizing transport vessel. I was so riveted I had to blog it, although technology does play a role in the story.
